Dark Side of the Mac

The Finder icon kinda looks like some of the art work used in the Division Bell. Anyone ever noticed that ?

Corporate choices in automation

Yesterday I was in a chain restaurant and noticed this. I opened the door and went into the restroom. The urinal flush was automated, the soap dispenser was automated, the sink was automated, the paper towel dispenser was automated. After all this sanitation advancement I still have to use the same door knob on the way out as all the people that didn't wash their hands. If you're not going to automate the door could you at least prop it open!

Computer TV

I decided to get the TV I currently have based on hooking my mac up to it. Yesterday I was thinking how nice it would be if TV's automatically had osx on them, & a mac was basically built into the system with a hard drive, usb out, wireless options, and a "Super Remote" that had a mouse/keyboard built in as well as a screen to view program listings or where you could plug in some headphones and watch something different than what's on TV or go into computer mode & listen to music or surf the internet or whatever. There would be a built in DVR & ipod / i-phone docks built in so you could rip shows directly to mobility. This is currently possible with technology because I'm almost doing it right now with my powerbook hooked up to my Sony Wega. Has anyone used eye-tv or anything like it ?

Apple TV hard drive upgrade

I bought my Atv a few days after it came out so I got the 40Gb version. Thanks to techrestore in about 4 days I was up to 160 Gb . I have used them on several occasions including a recent PowerBook Hard drive upgrade where I bumped my 80 Gb up to 160Gb. Great Company !

Tire Tread

Some people look like they are driving on racing slicks. I know you don't take that Dodge Caravan out on the track. Why not make the primary tire layers in neon colors. That way once they wear through to that level, it would be easy to see that you need to replace them.

iPhone Movies

I've gone through many different systems of movie manipulation over the past few years. I started out using Mac The Ripper and dealing with video_TS files. Currently my two projects are my Apple TV and my iphone so naturally I'm mostly dealing with mp4 files. One option is to find a favorite torrent site, search for "mp4" sort by # of seeders and skip the middle process all together. However I'm interested in movies that I currently own and Fletch Lives isn't currently in Pirate Bay's top 10. So The three programs that are currently on my Mac are #1: Handbrake ,#2: VisualHub ,& #3: DVD to iPhone Converter . I just recently started using #3 but it offers several options specifically for the iphone such as Screen outcome size. Visual Hub includes Apple TV in it's options and has advanced options to tinker with volume levels. Handbrake is Free so you can't argue with that. If anyone prefers one of these to another please let me know. Also new suggestions are always welcome.

Focus

Over the past two years I have spent almost five months on vacation. I took over 2000 pictures over that span. A portion of those were taken by random people to whom I entrusted to capture the moment gripping unfamiliar technology. Not everyone was cut out to be a photographer, and when you mix inexperience with indifference the out come is usually blurry. My suggestion is something paired with the camera relative to focus and distance. I carry on my person a device that relays information back to my camera telling it where I am in the picture and reminding it that I wish to stay in focus. I would also like to be able to send commands back to the camera like flash settings or even change between single or multiple focus points. If anyone wishes to add to this please do so in comments.

First Post

I guess all good blogs have some sort of theme whether it be that bloggers life or a specific topic. What I'm going to focus on is ideas. Either things that I have figured out that I think should be shared, or new cracks in the cosmic egg. At one point I was in a group of individuals who wanted to make a book based around Ideas that could be turned into million dollar money makers. Everything would be open to whom ever wanted to take on the idea and make their own buisness out of what was shared. It seems like these days ideas are sheltered from growth just based on monitary gain. Every thing shared here is as much yours as it is mine and feel free to take anything you wish from the ideas shared here. Also your actions are your own and this info should be used to feed your brain maybe in some way.
